Be A Part of Newspeak History!
The time has come for us to take the next step and record a CD that captures the boundless energy and unique sound that Newspeak brings to its live performances. We’re fortunate to have a great team behind this project. Newspeak has been signed to the critically praised non-profit label New Amsterdam Records, and we have Lawson White (of So Percussion fame) on-board to produce.
We’re scheduled to go into New York’s Clinton Studios in March to record six of our favorite pieces – Newspeak-commissioned works by Missy Mazzoli, Oscar Bettison, Stefan Weisman, Pat Muchmore, Newspeak violinist Caleb Burhans, and group founder and drummer David T. Little. The CD, to be called sweet light crude, will be released nationally, with distribution by NAXOS, in November 2010.
This is a costly endeavor—the total cost of production is an estimated $17,000. So far we’ve been able to raise about $12,000 through grant-writing and other fundraising efforts, but we need your help to raise that final $5000! We hope we can count on your support in the form of a tax-deductible donation in any amount to help us reach our ultimate goal. Please click the Paypal Donate tab above to get started! As well as helping make our CD, you’ll receive a host of benefits, which are listed below.
Many, many thanks in advance for your support!
